Pretty Lights is the stage name of Derek Vincent Smith, an electronic musician from Colorado. His music is a fusion of genres– incorporating funk, soul, hip hop, dubstep & trip hop, as well as an extensive use of sampling. Since 2006, he’s quickly been building a lengthy and great discography of incredible music, and it’s all available for free on his website.

This is both great party music, and awesome on a good pear of headphones. Smith caters to the ears with his amazing musical instinct, weaving original sounds with interesting samples; take this mix of Etta James & William Bell as an example.
